I can’t believe that Fanpop has been live to the world for a month now. It’s been surreal watching the site grow with new users registering each day and fresh content being added all the time. We’ve been blown away by the attention we’ve gotten in the blogosphere (you can follow along with all the fun over at The Fanpop Spot. I guess it’s still a little weird for me to see Fanpop come up in headlines on my Google RSS Reader from sources that I’ve been reading for a long time now like TechCrunch, Mashable!, John Battelle’s SearchBlog, Emily Chang‘s eHub, and more. The best part is that everyone has been so positive in their reviews of the site. But as flattering as it is to read complimentary articles about your company, it’s even more important to hear great feedback from the users. I get so excited seeing messages in my Fanpop inbox from excited users who gush about the site or share with us how addicted they are. It makes the team feel really encouraged because it means we did something right. And that’s what we care most about at the end of the day, doing right by our users.
I constantly find myself checking our stats to see where our users are coming from. It’s so fun to see people coming from all over the world. We’ve got fans joining from India to Scotland to Iceland to our neighbors up north in Canada. It’s fascinating to see all the new and interesting links people are adding each day. I sincerely apologize if we’ve decreased your productivity at work because you’ve spent so much time surfing on Fanpop. But think of it this way, we’ve saved you time you would have had to spend Googling and clicking all over the place just to find the good stuff or waiting for that friend to e-mail you a link to that hilarious video clip that everyone’s talking about. Now you can be the person who is the first to know!
The team’s been working hard on new features to make your user experience even better. Keep an eye out because they’re popping up all the time.
